Canon Iteration Explanation: ★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills: -Bass guitar. She's primarily a rock bassist, versatile, good at slapping.
-She can also play six string guitar, including acoustic, and used to play violin as a child.
-Composing. She writes the music for Kessoku Band's original songs at a notably high skill level for her age.
-Foraging. ...she spends all her allowance on music gear and instead of going home to eat she's learned which plants are edible in urban Tokyo? What the hell girl.
Canon Abilities: She's just a people.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: A long, thin, pitch black tail, longer, sharper canine teeth, ability to sense danger, and enhanced reflexes.
Role Reasoning: Ryo is a strange, extremely independent girl; she only got into rock music in the first place because it was something her parents wouldn't understand. She makes up strange lies as an excuse to wander off on her own to recharge her batteries. As Bocchi puts it, she's not lonely, she actually likes being alone. She also sees music as an expression of individuality - she left her previous band over her bandmates wanting to pursue a more mainstream style to be more successful. At the same time, she'll compromise on a lot of other areas to get either attention or money.
Without her parents and her family's wealth as a fallback, she'll be building an even more developed sense of independence, and... maybe? Responsibility? Hopefully? Don't starve out there Ryo.

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH: What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
What experience challenged your character's core beliefs? How did they handle this or change from it?
What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why? On top of all, her most key relationship is with her bandmate and best friend, Kessoku Band's drummer Nijika Ichiji. Nijika gets Ryo like no one else, understanding her moods and impulses as well as anyone can, while knowing when she needs to just... kind of drag Ryo away from being a dumbass about things. Most importantly, Nijika's the one who got her to take another chance after the blow up with her last band. That said, her other bandmates are getting more and more important, as she and Bocchi work together to make original songs, while learning just how much they have in common, and Kita's energy drags them all outside of their comfort zones. There's just not much she wants more than being in a band with people she likes, and finding a way to succeed with their own strengths building on each others.
What is a headcanon (or two) you feel strongly about and that you prefer playing your character with? How is this supported in canon and why do you think it benefits the character's story? My biggest headcanon is just that, whatever happened to lead to her quitting her last band must have been a pretty big blowup. It's mentioned outright that Nijika approaching her to start a band was essentially her giving it one last chance - Ryo, who lives and breathes music, who has absolutely no plans after high school that don't involve music, at least thinks that she was just about to give up on playing in a band. While she might have had other ideas to pursue music on her own, I've been rolling around the idea that it must have been a really nasty fight that she's underselling. Thus, Kessoku Band really is keeping her from feeling like she's adrift - which is why she's fighting so hard to make it work, and to let everyone's uniqueness shine through in the music she writes. She keeps her feelings pretty buried, and isn't a focus character whose head we get into, but she needs this to work out.
My related headcanon is that she totally would've joined another band after a while, despite feeling like she wouldn't want to at the time.
What is your character's moral code? Do they have one? Why or why not?
What are your characters dreams and nightmares? Do you believe they are more likely to obtain one rather than the other?
If you could give your character a Taylor Swift playlist, which songs would be on it and what would they represent about your character?
What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise. Ryo knows she's bad at expressing herself, bad at gelling with people, a bit of a pain in the ass to her friends and family... and she's not in any rush to force herself to fix much. Her parents are supportive, and her band likes her. She can not only express herself through music, but understand others better through it, and even help them express themselves when she writes songs. All she really wants to work on is synergy; she tends to get lost in her own little world, in general and on stage, and that can be ironed out. If that all means she ends up with a pretty small friend group then she'll just have fewer friends and be cool with that.
Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
If your character could change one thing about their past, what would it be and why? Or why not?
What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed? While the band spends a lot of time in Starry, their home venue of sorts, for practical reasons - Nijika's sister owns the place, they work part time there - it's also where they all just end up hanging out a lot. That said, Ryo is less focused on a safe place being any one location, depending on her mood; when she wants alone time, kicking around record stores and secondhand clothing shops can be more comforting and relaxing than a space like her room or Starry where she's more pressured to think about band activities.
On the other hand, Nijika's room seems to literally have more of Ryo's personal possessions than Nijika's so she must be pretty comfortable there when she wants to be around people.
What would your character sacrifice to get what they want or to reach their potential? What have they sacrificed already?
What famous folklore, legend, or myth would you associate your character with? Are they literally inspired by Snow White? Do they have similar struggles or energy as Red Riding Hood?
Which Taylor Swift era is your character going through right now and why?
What is a time where your character failed drastically at something and how did it impact them, what did they do about it?
